Rajamahendravaram: Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) has celebrated National Librarians Day which is also birth anniversary of SR Ranganadhan, the doyen of library science in the country.

Paying tributes to Ranganadhan at Dr BR Ambedkar central library here on Wednesday, AKNU vice-chancellor Prof Mokka Jagannadha Rao said that the services rendered by Ranganadhan for the libraries cannot be forgotten. He brought five acts relating to libraries in the country. Reading habit among the students and people drastically reduced because of smart and mobile phones and underlined the need to enhance reading habit. The students inculcate the habit of reading books and spend some time every day in the library to enrich their knowledge, he added.

Libraries host many varieties of books under one roof and no one can steal knowledge like other things, he said.

Many great personalities in the world used to spend more time in the libraries to know new things and enhance their knowledge. AKNU will introduce J Stores shortly and already introduced J Gate. Registrar Prof B Ganga Rao, professors K Sri Ramesh, Ramaneswari and others were present.
