In his statement, PM Modi announced a compensation package of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those who sustained injuries in the incident. The explosion, resulting from a reactor failure, caused significant damage, including the collapse of the company’s roof, which led to workers being thrown between 30 to 50 meters from the blast site.
Reports indicate that around 60 individuals have suffered serious injuries, with some bodies recovered in particularly harrowing states. One female laborer was found hanging from a tree branch, while others were tragically trapped beneath the debris. Many of the burnt bodies were almost unrecognizable, underscoring the severity of the explosion.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel have been actively engaged in rescue operations, carefully removing rubble with pickaxes and identifying the deceased amidst the devastation. The incident has raised significant safety concerns in the industrial sector, highlighting the need for stringent safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
