Ongole: Hundreds of teachers from the Prakasam district unit of Federation of Andhra Pradesh Teacher's Organizations (FAPTO) tried to lay siege to the district education officer's chambers after protesting in front of the Collectorate on Thursday.

The FAPTO Prakasam secretary-general KVG Keerthy said that it is a tiresome process to answer about 8000 options in the web counselling and demanded the government to proceed with the manual counselling method to conduct transfers.

The co-chairman of the district federation S Ravi demanded the government to show all vacancies in the counselling without blocking any post.

The APTF vice-president PV Subbarao and Manjula demanded that the government should not cancel any post in the name of shifting to English medium. The co-chairman M Ramanjaneyulu advised the officials to shun the unnecessary rigidness towards issues of the teachers.

The deputy secretary-general Suvarna Babu demanded the government to accept all demands of the FAPTO as they do not put any financial burden.
