Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is going to launch the Jagananna Vasathi Deevena (JVD), a new scheme at Vizianagaram on Monday. He will also inaugurate the newly built Disha Police Station there, as part of the tour.

The JVD Scheme will provide financial assistance for hostel and mess charges for ITI, Polytechnic, Degree and even to the PG and PhD students. In other words, all the students will get benefit except those who have covered under the Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme. As many as 11,87,904 students would benefit from the scheme, according to the official data.

The Education Department approved Rs. 2,300 Cr for the present Financial Year. The amount under JVD scheme will be credited into the respective accounts of the mother or guardian of the eligible student, like in the case of Jaganna Amma Vodi scheme.

Under the newly launching scheme, ITI students will get Rs10,000, Polytechnic students will get Rs. 15,000 and the Degree students will get Rs. 20,000 every. The amount will be disbursed in two equal installments in the month of February and July. Half of the amount is being paid from the budget of the present financial year, in the first year of implementing the scheme.

The objectives of the scheme are to help the mothers financially so that they continue to send their children to higher education without any difficulty, announced the Chief Minister.

Courses covered are ITI, Polytechnic, to Degree and PG or Ph.D (except Intermediate students who are covered under Ammavodi). Full fee reimbursement is provided for SC and ST students, regardless of courses.

This eligible number may increase. Once the pending Spandana applications on objections received on ineligibility are disposed of and the balance unsurveyed students get surveyed in the village and ward secretariats logins, the number of eligible students will increase, informed the Chief Minister's office in a statement.

A drive is being conducted to complete these two aspects. Chief Minister instructed the officials that no eligible student shall be left out of the scheme. At present, 50 percent of the eligible Vasathi Deevena Scheme amount is being released to the mothers' accounts, as first instalment.

The JVD cards with a unique barcode for each student are being distributed to all eligible students, officials informed. The barcode contains the full details of the student, including the status of sanction, under the scheme.

Officials of the Education Department informed that, 53720 ITI students to be paid Rs 26.86 Cr, 86,896 polytechnic students will be paid Rs 65.17 Cr and 10,47,288 Degree and PG students will get Rs 1047.12 Cr under the first installment.
