Markapuram: Prakasam district Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara ordered the officials to complete the works of Pula Subbaiah Veligonda Project by August 31, 2021.

He conducted a review meeting with officials on the status the project works and rehabilitation colonies at the Veligonda project engineering office in Dornala on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the government has taken all measures to complete the Veligonda project, but due to the flood in the Srisailam dam, the engineers couldn't complete it.

He said that the work of the first tunnel is just 160 metres remaining while the second tunnel is about 7.3 km pending. He ordered the officials to take up the works of the second tunnel on a war footing and complete the works of the first tunnel and head regulator by December.

He also ordered them to complete the land acquisition for the completion of the project and feeder channels. He ordered them to take the necessary actions to complete the project by August 31, 2021, and provide drinking and irrigation water to the public.

The Veligonda project SE, Nagesh, land acquisition special Collector Sarala Vandanam, Markapuram RDO M Seshireddy, project EEs Abu Talim, Chinababu, Prabhakar, and construction company representatives Saidareddy, Subbarao, Mallikharjuna, and others also participated in the meeting.
