AP High Court strikes down GO on 34 percent BC reservation
In Short
The court said the orders did not comply with constitutional limits and set them aside.

Andhra Pradesh High Court
The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday struck down government orders on reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections, ruling that the Supreme Court guidelines on reservation limits were not followed.
The advocate Tandava Yogesh who moved High Court on GO 105 and GO 1065 argued that the proposed quotas would take total reservations beyond the 50 per cent ceiling. The court said the orders did not comply with constitutional limits and set them aside.
The state government had announced plans in August 2026 to provide BC reservations of 34 per cent in rural local bodies and 33.33 per cent in urban local bodies.
