Anantapur: Beautification campaign yields good results
District Collector Gandham Chandrudu has taken up cleaning and beautification drive in city about a month ago and it has been yielding significant results
Anantapur: The clean and beautification drive taken up by District Collector Gandham Chandrudu in his capacity as the Special Officer of Anantapur Municipal about a month ago has been yielding good results. The Collector participated in the campaign with commitment and started cleaning roads and drains and clearing garbage from the roads and debris from the stinking gutters, spending more than couple of hours every day and prompting other
Continuing the special drive, Gandham Chandrudu participated in clean and green programme in the city on Saturday. The Beautification works include white washing of all public walls, road dividers and bridges and painting pictures depicting Rayalaseema culture. The 26 parks in the city are getting a face lift and roads are also being developed and an amount of Rs 29 crore was allocated for the works.
Speaking to 'The Hans India' on the occasion of completing nearly30 days of the 2 month long campaign, Chandrudu said that the sanitation and beautification works worth Rs.59 crore are being sponsored by several private sources.
Prabhavathi, an SKU social work student who also participated in the cleanliness campaign said to The Hans India' that when the campaign was launched on January 26, she thought it was merely a publicity stunt, but the campaign has been yielding significant results.
Swarna Latha, another university Arts student says that she was motivated by the initiative from District Collector.
