Voter enrolment drive yields positive results
Vikarabad: Officials prepared final electoral lists for Lok Sabha polls. A total of 8,93,147 candidates are eligible to vote in four constituencies in the district, where female voters are more than male voters. Parigi constituency has 2,43,347 voters while Tandur has 2,14,274, Kodangal has 2,15,817 and Vikarabad has 2,19,709 voters. Almost 24,521 voters between the age group 18 and 19 got the right this time.
As many as 53,000 voters have been increased when compared to the final list of Assembly elections. The main reason for this was that many new voters, especially young people enrolled this time. The awareness drives conducted by the government agencies also helped in increasing the number of voters.
The Vikarabad, Paragi and Tandur constituencies of the district are in the Chevella Parliament segment. A total of 6,77,330 voters will exercise their franchise in the constituency. 2,15,817 people will vote from Kondangal constituency in Mahbubnagar Parliamentary constituency. In the last election, only 6,45,806 people could vote out of 8,40,181eligible voters. That is about 76.69 percent. But this time expectations are there that the number will definitely increase.
Young voters rise
The old Rangareddy district witnessed a surge in young voters this time. As many as 1, 21, 552 new young voters are going to exercise their franchise in the old Rangareddy district. As per the details of the latest voter lists released by the officials, 55,419 new voters in the age group between 18 and 19 are enrolled in Rangareddy district. This is the maximum number in this category across the state. As many as 41,612 new voters in Medchal district and 24,521 new voters in Vikarabad are enrolled this time.
