A 21-year-old year migrant worker died of heatstroke in Bhadradri while he was heading home to Odisha on foot along with his three friends. The four-member group started to reach their home in Malkangiri of Odisha on Sunday from Hyderabad.
When the group reached Bhadradri, the man complained of chest pain, vomited and collapsed on road. His friends alerted the police who rushed him to the area hospital in Bhadradri where the doctors declared him brought dead. His friends also told the police that they have not eaten anything since Monday afternoon.
Officials informed the family members of the man in Malkangiri and arranged a vehicle to take the body to their native place.
Due to the lockdown, the migrant workers are leaving for their native places after unable to find work. Though the government assured them of moving to their native places, the workers are setting out on foot to their homes as their return would take time. The government deployed special trains and buses to shift the migrant workers to their native places. However, the workers need to take passes from the officials to move back to their homes.
