Ramayampet: The BC welfare hostel here is in dire straits and its inmates are facing hardships. The warden who must supervise things is reportedly not staying locally and attending to their needs. It is also alleged that the prescribed menu for the students is not being implemented properly.

The dire situation of the students was reported to the District Collector thrice, but no action has been taken so far. The incident of negligence came to light when an RTI activist revealed his findings.

The activist Radhakrishna said the warden who should stay locally has been travelling to and fro from Hyderabd. He also opined that the situation would have not been so worse if the Collector inspected the hostel at least once.

The hostel is home to students of both college and school levels. The state government has increased the mess charges and changed the menu. But, activists doubt its implementation due to lack of supervision from higher authorities. Parents of the students appeal that the Collector should focus on the issue.
