NCBC condemns rape, murder of girl

Warangal: Amid growing protests over the molestation and killing of a nine-month-old infant, National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) that looks after the safeguards provided to the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBCs) and solves their grievances is to conduct a spot inquiry of the case.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, the NCBC member Talloju Achary condemned the rape and murder of nine-month-old child that occurred in Hanamkonda on June 19. He said that efforts are on to ensure speedy justice to the victim's parents.

"The NCBC will pursue the government to set up a fast track court to ensure speedy justice to the aggrieved," Achary said. He said that the NCBC would recommend the State government to allot a double bedroom house to the victim's family.

He further assured of providing relief to the victim's family through National Legal Services Authority. The ex-gratia may range between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, he added. In addition to this, the NCBC would recommend another Rs 7 lakh as the victim is a minor.

Achary said that the case would be taken to the notice of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and others so that to ensure speedy justice to the victim's family.

He expressed hope that the case would be completed within a couple of months. Earlier, Achary consoled the parents of the victim at Kumarpally.

Warangal Urban district joint collector S Dayanand, DCP Narasimha, ACP Sridhar, RDO Venka Reddy, BC welfare officer Vasantham and others were present.
