Hyderabad: Pregnant woman dies of swine flu at Gandhi Hospital

A pregnant woman died due to swine flu at Gandhi Hospital on Monday. She was identified as Shehnaz, a native of Bijigiri Sharif in Jammikunta Mandal of Karimnagar district.

Initially, Shehnaz was admitted to a hospital in Warangal but later she was shifted to Gandhi Hospital on February 18 after her condition deteriorated. She was put on a ventilator for the last five days and suffered a cardiac arrest and died today morning.

The doctors operated her and removed the baby. Meanwhile, family members of Shehnaz alleged that the doctors did not treat her for swine flu initially and were negligent towards the patient.

Following a complaint by them, the hospital authorities issued a memo to the doctors.
