Hyderabad: Swine flu patient dies after delivering baby
Hyderabad: A 24-year-old woman from Jammikunta in Karimnagar district, who was undergoing treatment for swine flu in Gandhi hospital for last six days, died on Monday after delivering a baby girl.
The newborn is tested negative for swine flu. At present, the baby is getting treatment in Paediatric ICU.
According to doctors, her health condition deteriorated after c-section was performed on her within a few hours after the pregnant woman was admitted to the hospital on February 18 midnight.
The private hospital in Warangal, where she was initially admitted with high fever, was confirmed positive for swine flu. The pregnant woman was shifted with a ventilator support to Gandhi hospital.
The next day she developed labour pains. Her family members alleged that there was no doctor or nursing staff to attend on her. After an uproar, the in-charge superintendent issued memos to duty doctor and nurses who were on duty at that time.
As the woman's health condition was deteriorating, the Gynaecology department swung into action and performed the delivery.
