Hyderabad: Install Ambedkar statue at Punjagutta: Opposition
Hyderabad: Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) founder-president Prof M Kodandaram on Saturday made it clear that separate Telangana State was formed due to the inspiration drawn from the architect of Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar and made it clear that his statue should be installed at Punjagutta at any cost.
He made these remarks while addressing an all-party round-table conference held by senior Congress leader and former MP V Hanumantha Rao on the issue of the installation of Ambedkar statue at Punjagutta circle.
The TJS leader called upon the Opposition party leaders to agitate on the issue at Delhi level if the State government fails to respond. He warned the State government that they would hold agitation with 10,000 people pressing for the installation of Ambedkar statue at the same place in the State capital.
Former MLA and BC Welfare Association national president R Krishnaiah came down heavily on Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao for not acting on the demand of Opposition parties to install the statue of BR Ambedkar at Punjagutta circle in the city. He said the Chief Minister would also eventually meet the same fate as German dictator Hitler.
Hanumantha Rao said that he bought Ambedkar statue with a cost of Rs five lakh and the police have snatched it away. He made it clear that if his fight for the installation of statue was wrong then he was ready to face any action.
Telangana Telugu Desam president L Ramana demanded the government to install Ambedkar statue by time of his birth anniversary.
