Hyderabad: Astoria Hotel fined for unclean kitchen in RTC Crossroads
RTC Crossroads: GHMC officials led by food inspector Sudarshan Reddy made a sudden inspection of Astoria Hotel on Wednesday and fined the hotel Rs 20,000 for unclean surroundings and food. The team collected food samples and sent for testing.
The team made inspection based on a complaint by Satyanarayna, a resident of Gandhinagar colony, who bought vegetable biryani packet from the hotel and found a cockroach in it. Incensed by the arrogant reply of hotel management to his complaint on the issue, he took the issue to the notice of media. Responding to the news, GHMC sent a team of officials to the hotel for inspection. Several hotels in the area were fined with heavy penalties in the past. However, such incidents are frequently reported from the area.
Commenting on the issue, Vijay Rasuri, a local, said that officials often impose fines on small hotels while ignoring noted hotels. Big hotels are often left with small fines, he said.
