Hyderabad: ABVP leaders condemn lathi-charge on students in Basheerbagh

Basheerbagh: ABVP unit of Nizam College staged protest in front of college on Thursday, condemning arrest and lathi-charge of ABVP students who participated in laying siege of assembly on Wednesday. Students took out a rally from Basheerbagh Crossroads to the college and were arrested by police when they tried to burn effigy of the Chief Minister.

Condemning the lathi-charge, convener of ABVP Hyderabad Suresh Kamal said the ABVP activists were only trying to highlight the negligence of the State government towards education sector. He also condemned the police filing false cases against students and warned that governments that ignore students' issues cannot survive for long. He demanded that the State government take necessary action against police officials for their maltreatment of students.

Among those who participated in the protest were student leaders Pavan, Pruthvi, Sai, Ravi Kumar, Anil, Manohar and others.
