English medium students outshine counterparts in SSC exams
Hyderabad: Students who studied in English medium schools continue to outperform their counterparts who studied in other media in SSC examination results in the State.
While the State pass percentage stood at 92.43, English medium schools secured a pass percentage of 94.32.
Out of the total 3.27 lakh students who appeared from English medium, a total of 3.08 lakh students passed the examinations.
Telugu medium schools followed English medium schools with 89.26 pass per cent and Urdu medium schools secured 84.63 pass per cent.
Nearly 1.67 lakh students appeared for examinations from Telugu medium schools and as many as 1.49 lakh students passed.
When compared results from last year (2018) with this year's outcome, the pass percentage in English medium schools was the highest with 88.96, while that of Telugu medium was 75.37 and Urdu medium 73.04 per cent.
Nearly 630 students appeared in other media and as many as 520 passed the exam taking the pass percentage to 82 percent.
As far as the pass percentage, subject-wise was concerned, students performed exceedingly well in social studies with 99.05 pass percentage in that subject.
It was followed by a second language subject (99.93 pass per cent). Next came third language and first language subjects with a pass percentage of 98.75 and 98.73 respectively.
Pass percentage registered in mathematics subject was 96.13 and general science was 95.88.
