BJP National Leader P Muralidhar Rao

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party national leader and Madhya Pradesh in-charge P Muralidhar Rao has come down heavily on the Telangana State government and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for "taking the education sector in the State in reverse gear at the cost of the future of the State."

Addressing the media here on Monday, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi government has increased the number of the Higher Educational Institutions like IITs, IIMs, IIITs and AIIMs in the last seven years.

The education sector has been given top priority keeping given futuristic India and the role it plays. However, Satavahana University, Rajeev Gandhi Knowledge University, Horticulture and Veterinary universities in the State does not have vice-chancellor since the formation of separate Telangana State, he noted.

Muralidhar Rao challenged Chief Minister to appoint an independent committee to audit the status of education sector, particularly the higher education in Telangana.

He said that employees and youth in the State have become the soldiers of change in the State and the winning spree of BJP has begun in Telangana.

Stating that the education sector in the state has been reeling under darkness, he questioned the silence of the employees association. Calling them as "Dappu Sainyam" (soldiers of trumpeting) for CM KCR, he asked the employees and students to get rid of them.

Informing the vacancy details of teaching and non-teaching staff in Osmania, Kakatiya, Mahatma Gandhi and other universities, Rao said, "The historic Osmania University did not even conduct executive council meeting and is running without any budget approvals," he pointed out.

He alleged that a campaign has been unleashed to mislead the unemployed youth in the wake of graduate MLC constituency elections.

Except for the agriculture and Health university, 14 universities in Telangana do not have regular VCs, he said, adding that the State government which had brought out a government order to fill the existing vacancies in two phases in 2017 had not started the process yet even after three years.
