Centre nod for super-speciality courses in ESIC medical college
Hyderabad: The ESI Corporation, in its 179th Corporation Body meeting chaired by Union Labour Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar in New Delhi, has accorded approval for DNB courses in super-specialty departments like Cardiology, Nephrology, Urology, Oncology, Onco-Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Paediatric Surgery, Neonatology, Neonatal Surgery etc in the medical college run by the corporation in the city.
Perhaps, the ESIC Institute at Sanathnagar under Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency from where Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy was elected, will be the first in the country to have under-graduate and post-graduate courses in super specialty medical courses.
Officials said that the initiative would pave way for better patient care and round-the-clock super specialty services at the hospital cum medical college with dedicated residents and super specialists for 70 lakh workers mapped to these hospitals. The campus has infrastructure worth over Rs 1,000 crore.
The annual budget sanctioned for the super specialty hospital is Rs 180 crore, in addition to Rs 200 crore for the medical college hospital annually.
