Ongole: 2.51 crore workers benefiting from Central schemes
Ongole: Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar responded to the question of Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy about the schemes and programs being offered by the Union government to increase the social security of the unorganized sector workers in the country, announced the MP office in Ongole on Monday.
In his response to Magunta, the minister said that the Union government has brought the 'Unorganized Workers Social Security Act' to increase the social security if the workers in 2008 and the central and state governments are implementing the act for the welfare of workers, non-productive workers, and ill workers. He said that the provident fund, housing schemes, help for the studies of their children, schemes for the increase of skill development, cremation charges, insurance, pension, etc are being provided to the unorganized workers and nearly 2.51 crore of them are getting benefits from the said programs as of now.
