Bahujan Left Front demands minimum support price for cotton

Kodangal: Bahujan Left Front (BLF) staged a protest at the market yard here on Thursday, demanding minimum support price (MSP) for cotton. They also asked the government to save the cotton farmers from the clutches of middlemen who were paying Rs 3,600 to 4,000 per quintal, though the Central government announced a support price of Rs 5,500.

The BLF leaders demanded that the state government set up purchase centre for procurement of cotton at Kodangal. They submitted a memorandum to the in-charge MRO in this regard. BLF district president Dr K Venkateshwarlu, Ramakrishna, Bheemesh, Anjilappa, Hanumappa and others were present.
