Activist Varavara Rao hospitalised in Mumbai
Revolutionary writer Varavara Rao was hospitalised after he fainted in Taloja prison in Mumbai on Friday night. Rao who was the accused in Elgaar Parishad case has been admitted to JJ hospital in Mumbai.
Rao is said to have complained about chest pain before he collapsed. The doctors at the prison recommended to admit him in the hospital as he also suffers from high blood pressure. His family members were informed about his health condition who rushed to Mumbai.
Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar in a tweet said that the family of Varavara Rao were issued passes to travel to Mumbai.
It is learnt that Sri Varavar Rao has been admitted to JJ Hospital at Mumbai while in judicial custody . The matter is being informed to family members and necessary passes are being issued by DCP CZ for family to travel to Mumbai . We are coordinating with agencies at Mumbai .

Rao's wife Hemalatha said that a prisoner who was released from the jail told her that his health condition is bad. Following which, the family demanded his release and tried to contact the Maharashtra government, but in vain. Varavara Rao, who is aged about 81 was first arrested in November 2018, over his alleged involvement in Bhima-Koregaon violence.
His bail petition is to be heard in court on June 2, 2020.
