Vanam-Manam helps to conserve forests: Dy CM

Rajamahendravaram:  Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala China Rajappa has underlined the need to conserve forests in the state, which is the need of the hour. Planting saplings in connection with 69th Vana Mahotsavam held at DBV Raju Township here on Saturday, he said the government is encouraging planting of saplings through Vanam Manam programme for the last four years. 

He asked the teachers to inculcate the habit of planting saplings among students from school days. The government is encouraging orchards in the state, as many people are getting their lively hood through them. He appealed to the people to plant at least one sapling in the premises of their houses. Awareness programme are being conducted in this regard.

Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Reddy Subramanyam said Vanam Manam programme benefits to increase greenery in the state and asked the officials to involve everyone in this programme. Rajanagaram MLA Pendurthi Venkatesh, MLC Chikkala Ramachandra Rao, ZP chairman Jyothula Naveen, rural MLA GB Choudary, GUDA chairman Ganni Krishna, Collector Karthikeya Misra, Superintendent of Police B Raja Kumari, Sub-Collector CM Saikanth Varma, District Forest Officer Nandana Salaria and others were present.
