OU Telugu department centenary celebrations from tomorrow
Osmania University: Centenary celebrations of Telugu Department of Osmania University will be launched at Seminar Hall in Arts College on January 31. Addressing press persons in the campus on Tuesday, Telugu department head Prof Surya Dhanunjaya said that OU Vice-Chancellor Prof S Ramachandram, Chief Minister’s Office OSD Desapathi Srinivas and Arts College Principal Prof D Ravinder would grace the inaugural event.
The website of the department and Telugu Department Alumni Association will be launched on the occasion. The department would organise various programmes as part of year-long celebrations. Prof Surya Dhanunjaya said that they would bring out a special edition with research articles on the Mahabharat. A two-day seminar on emergence of the department would be held. Magazines named ‘Vivechana’, and ‘Osmania Telugu Velugu’ would also be released.
The alumni who brought fame to the department would be felicitated and a book with their experiences would be released. The Telugu department head said that literary meet, poetry competitions and various folk art forms would be performed by artists during centenary celebrations. OU Telugu Department Board of Studies chairman Veldanda Nitynanda Rao, faculty Dr S Kamalakara Sarma, Dr Varija Rani and Dr S Vijayalakshmi were present.
