Police advisory for Kite festival
Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar on Thursday issued Prohibitory Orders in order to prevent any incidents of breach of peace and accidents that are likely to occur during the celebration of Sankranti festival on January 14 and 15. According to the orders, kite flying on all streets and in and around places of worship is prohibited, in the interest of maintenance of public order.
The order shall be in force with effect from 6 am on December 14 to 6 am on December 16. Police requested parents and citizens to advise their children to not fly kites from terraces, which do not have parapet walls in order to avoid any untoward incident.
They should also advice their children not to run on the roads or vulnerable places while flying kites or trying to collect stray kites. Children should be made aware of their vulnerability as regards to electrocution, if they try to collect stray kites from electric poles.
The revellers shall not collect wood forcibly for bonfires and they should use wood only with the consent of owners. Police warned that any person violating the orders shall be Prosecuted under the Hyderabad City Police Act, 1348 Fasli (No IX).
