KCR explains poll mantra to Modi
New Delhi/ Hyderabad: The ‘secret mantra’ behind the TRS landslide victory in the just-concluded Assembly elections and the long-pending Telangana State related issues took centre-stage in the one-on-one between Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Prime Minister Narendra Modi which lasted for nearly 30 minutes in New Delhi on Wednesday.
It is learnt that KCR explained his poll management and political strategy in decimating the Congress-led People’s Front in the elections by restricting it to 21 seats while the TRS secured 88 of 119 seats in Telangana Assembly. The TRS chief shared the details of fresh promises made by TRS and fulfillment of all assurance made in 2014 election with the prime minister. He informed the PM the constituency-wise public meetings conducted as part of election campaign helped him to ascertain the people’s mood and take measures in winning majority seats.
The state-related issues KCR discussed with prime minister were transfer of Bison Polo ground land for construction of secretariat and road widening, establishment of Indian Institute Informational Technology (IIIT) in Karimnagar, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Hyderabad, 21 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in new districts and sanction of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Hyderabad.
Revival of Cement Corporation of India (CCI) in Adilabad in joint collaboration with NHAI as proposed by the Ministry of Surface Transport, National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) in Zaheerabad with a request for release of funds, development of Kakatiya Mega Textile Park at Warangal and sanction of Rs 1,000 crore by the Centre, request to refer petitions of Telangana to Krishna River Water Disputes Resolution Tribunal and conferring of national status to Kaleshwaram project and sanction of special grant to this major irrigation project were discussed in detail.
KCR also pleaded with PM to fulfill all promises made under AP Reorgnsiation Act which includes, resolution of bifurcation of Schedule IX and X Institutions, expeditious completion of railways projects, Scheduled Castes (SC) sub-categorisation, setting of Tribal University in Warangal district, release of Rs 450 crore under Backward Areas Grant Fund as per the reorganisation Act and the proposal to implement the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana with more funds in Telangana.
Similarly, Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya would also ring in quality life, KCR said and pointed out that despite NITI Aayog's support for the same, no funds were being allocated as sought. KCR is also said to have sought more powers to the States under the federal structure for the holistic development of the same. Team India concept would get a boost only when powers and resources were shared in a proper quotient, he reportedly told the PM.
After meeting the Prime Minister, Chandrashekar Rao called on Union Home minister Rajnath Singh. Accompanied by TRS MP B Vinod Kumar, the chief minister met the Union minister on a courtesy call after assuming CM post for a second consecutive term. The chief minister explained Rajnath the state released issues mainly the release of Rs 450 crore funds for the development of backward districts pending for the last six months.
