Fulfil promise of pay revision, demands BSNL staff
Khammam: Demanding that the DoT solve their issues, the BSNL Employees Union members on Tuesday staged sit-in at Dharna Chowk in the city. Speaking on the occasion, union secretary T Prasad alleged that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has not taken any action to solve BSNL employees’ problems till date.
Prasad said that after the massive presentation at Sanchar Bhavan in New Delhi on February 24, the Central Communication Minister Manoj Sinha held discussions with the BSNL employees and assured them that he would take initiatives for sanctioning the 3rd pay revision and also solving other issues. He had ordered DoT officials to submit the inputs immediately.
But the DoT officials did not submit any inputs related to the 3rd pay revision of BSNL employees to the Ministry of Communication till date.In protest against the negligent behaviour of DoT officials, the BSNL employees went on hunger strikes and dharnas in front of the DoT offices across the country in the month of July. Even then the DoT officials did not take any steps in this regard till date, he alleged.
Therefore, to exert pressure on the DoT secretary and take the issue to the notice of the Central government, a series of protest programmes are being conducted across the country, he informed.
