Trekking draws youths close to nature

Hanamkonda: In a bid to spread the importance of historical places in Warangal and improve tourist footfall thereby, the Urban district administration on Sunday organised trekking event. 

It may be noted here that District Collector Amrapali Kata, who is keen to promote tourism, had recently directed the officials to prepare a tourism calendar identifying hotspots in the region.

To begin with, the authorities had organised trekking at the Gaggilaiah gutta also known as Hanumadgiri in Hanamkonda. Twenty-odd youths, led by tourism consultant Aravind Arya, trekked the picturesque hillock.

It may be noted here that the hillock has archaeological evidences suggesting that Jainism has once prospered here. There is an imposing 35-feet carving of 3rd Tirthankara and 13 feet carving of 23rd Tirthankara on the hillock.

Aravind Arya said that a tourism calendar that includes various laidback destinations and adventure sports will be released as per the instructions of the District Collector. 

The youths, who participated in the trekking, said that it was a memorable experience to them and their friends. Madipelly Susheel Goud said that he was mesmerised by the lush green settings of the hillock.
