Tolichowki street vendors dump garbage on road
Tolichowki: Every morning a heap of garbage lies awaiting garbage trucks in the middle of Tolichowki Cross Roads. It seems ironic that where there is garbage there are no bins and vice versa. At Tolichowki, with no waste bins the newly-settled market under the bridge finds no place to dispose of the waste. “Every day a heap of garbage is accumulated by the street vendors and these days residents of the area,” said a resident, Syed Ali.
Rancid smell of rotting food waste is exasperating the residents and commercial traders in the area. The heap of garbage is laid right in between on the road, leaving just enough space for a motorist to pass at a time which is leading to constant traffic issues during peak hours of the day.
Traffic police in the area are using traffic cones to signal the commuters regarding the rubbish laid in the middle of the road. A Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation tipper is assigned for the removal of waste every day, but their duties dwindle and sometimes the waste is left unattended for the whole day, rotting and tossing the time of commuters.
