Mock Parliament held in AU Law College
Visakhapatnam: Department of Youth Services, conducted Yuva Sabha, a mock Parliament on Saturday here at Dr B R Ambedkar College of Law, Andhra University to create awareness among students on the functioning of Indian parliament.
Students from different departments including law, political science and commerce participated in the session.
Students took up the roles of Speaker, President, Prime Minister, and Leader of the Opposition Party, MPs and MLAs from ruling as well as the opposition party.
Different procedures in Parliament were reproduced by the students. Oath, Obituary References, Introduction of New Ministers, Question Hour, Zero Hour, Breach of Privilege, Papers to be Laid, Message from the Upper House, Welcome to Special Delegates, Calling Attention, Introducing of Bills, Adjournment Motion, No Confidence Motion, Private Bill Resolution were performed and shown by the students.
The passing of the Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill and Surrogacy Bill-2019 were reproduced by the students.
Arguments and counter-arguments between the ruling and opposition party created the atmosphere of original parliamentary sessions.
The issues on surrogacy and surrogate mothers raised by the participants created awareness to everyone present at the Yuva Sabha.
