Former SC judge Chalameswar recounts his college days in Dr B R Ambedkar College

Visakhapatnam: Certainty should come from legal system, the interpretation played by Supreme Court or any law or aspect of the law must be consistent as they cannot be a law which is applicable to one individual, said former Judge of the Supreme Court justice Jasti Chalameswar here on Saturday

Addressing law students at S Venkatraman Endowment Lecture organised as part of platinum jubilee celebrations of Dr B R Ambedkar College of Law on the campus, Jasti Chalameswar elaborated on the topic 'Rule of Law and the Indian constitution.'

Around 300 students attended the seminar held in memory of Venkatraman. Chalameswar discussed the changes in the judiciary system and how the rule of law plays key role in today's society. Later, he recalled his college days and where he used to sit and attend lectures.

Students found the platform quite interesting as they could learn from the experts they met. Praneeta, a fourth-year law student, says, "Being a law student, we should be able to differentiate between rule of law and rule of law in the society they sound be similar to people but once we delve deep into the concept there will be a vast difference and the main concept for judiciary."

Swati, a third-year student, says, "Well, this lecture has given us a good clarity about rule of law which has been a very important subject." Chalameswar also talked about his college days. After the lecture, he went to his bench where he used to pay attention to the professors and felt excited.

The programme ended with a felicitation programme. AU Vice Chancellor (additional charge) PGDV Prasada Reddy, Principal of AU Law College S Sumitra, professors, degree students and researchers, registrar and other faculty members participated in the programme.
