Vigilance officials raid fertilizer shops

Yerragondapalem: The vigilance officials in the Prakasam district raided several fertilizer shops in Tripurantakam on a tip off that they are selling spurious potash.

According to the vigilance official Ramanareddy and others, they raided Venkata Subrahmanyaswara Fertilizers, Venkata Raghavendra Fertilizers, Lakshmi Srinivasa Fertilizers and others as they received information that they were selling fake muriate of potash to the farmers.

They said that the fertilizer delaers in the Tripurantakam were sourcing the spurious fertilizers from Karnataka and were supplying them to neighboring districts like Guntur. 

They announced that similar raids were being conducted at Narasarao Pet and other places on Tuesday and they were planning to continue the same for two more days, if necessary.

As the news about the raids on fertilizers dealers was spread out, the others have closed down their shops at Yerragondapalem, Markapur, Giddalur and other places  immediately.
