Aurobindo workers stage blindfolded protest

Srikakulam: Workers of Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals  on Saturday staged a dharna in front of the company main gate at Pydibhimavaram in Ranastalam mandal under the aegis of CITU protesting management’s negligence in addressing their grievances. 

As part of agitation, the workers staged a blindfolded protest and pressed for implementation of minimum wages, providing job security, allotment of funds for development of villages which are being affected due to pollution. 

Speaking on the occasion, CITU State vice-president Duppala Govinda Rao said that for the last eight months, the company management neglecting its workers and their welfare by violating all established norms of the government. 

The management was not even giving priority for local qualified youth and did not allot funds for the development of villages which are being affected due to its pollution, he lamented. 

He also alleged that the company was not showing interest to allot funds under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) for improvement of local areas. CITU leader P Tejeswara Rao and company workers took part in the agitation.
