Eluru: West Godavari District Superintendent of Police M Ravi Prakash has warned cockfight and other gambling organisers of stern action. He convened the weekly public grievance cell at the district police headquarters here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the SP said that it was illegal to organise cockfight and other gambling activities which involved violence. Tying cocks with sharp knives and holding bets would not be allowed.

The Sankranti festival should be celebrated with culture and tradition. The conduct of sports competitions and cultural programmes would be suggested by the police during Sankranti festivities, he said.

The SP informed that persons with history of creating trouble during Sankranti would be taken into preventive custody and bind over cases would be registered.
People from across the district complained to the SP about domestic violence, cheating, sexual harassment and other cases.

The police would act against the complaints and resolve the issues at the earliest, the SP added.
