128 swine flu cases reported in AP State
Amaravati: Special Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Satish Chandra directed the officials to be on the alert and create awareness among people on swine flu. As swine flu cases are being reported in different districts in the State, the Special Chief Secretary conducted a teleconference with officials on Tuesday.
He asked the officials to launch campaign against swine flu in public places including bus stands, railway stations, temples, churches, dargahs, schools and colleges and at Tirumala as lakhs of people gather at one place. He directed the municipal officials to concentrate on sanitation.
Satish Chandra said if necessary health camps should be conducted to prevent swine flu. The officials said they opened health camps at railway stations, bus stands, and airports of Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. He directed the officials to supply anti swine flu medicines to all the hospitals in the State and open special wards to treat swine flu patients.
So far, 128 positive cases were reported in the State against 8,025 cases in the country since January 21. In Visakhapatnam 37 cases, 31 cases in Chittoor and 25 cases in Kurnool district were reported. Among different States, 2,149 cases were reported in Maharashtra, 1,646 in Gujarat, 674 in Karnataka and 231 in Telangana reported so far, explained the Chief Minister’s office in a press release.
The officials also informed that 476 cases were registered in AP in the previous year. They said that preventive measures taken by the government helped in bringing down the cases this year. Secretary to Chief Minister Girija Sankar, AP Vaidya Vidhana Parishad Commissioner Dr P Durgaprasada rao, Additional Director Dr Neerada and others were present.
