Fishes released into Godavari

Rajamahendravaram: MLC Adireddy Appa Rao, GUDA chairman Ganni Krishna and Mayor PRS Sai released Leelavathi and Bocchu variety fish in River Godavari at Kotilingala Ghat here on Tuesday.

Later, they said as many as 26 lakh fishes were released into the river and the state government was putting its efforts to increase marine wealth in the state. 

As part of it, every year the government took up this programme. The fishermen also get benefitted with this programme as abundant fish wealth is available in the river.

Stating that marine wealth was also helping the nation to stabilise its economic base, they asked the officials of Fisheries department to devise an action plan in this regard.

Fisheries department assistant director GV Rao and others were present.
