Visakhapatnam: The physical education teachers (PETs) and trainers of three coastal districts staged a dharna in front of the Gandhi statue at Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation office in the city on Friday demanding that the state  government fill up 1,056 posts of physical education trainers.

Addressing the gathering, AP Unemployed JAC president S Hemanth Kumar said the government had announced only 47 PET vacant posts through DSC 2018 notification while 1,056 PET posts are lying vacant across the state. He said the government had announced the DSC in a hurry without properly identifying the existing vacant posts.

Due to this, two PET aspirants from Guntur and Krishna district had ended up their lives. He also pointed that no political party was bothered about the unemployed youth and their issues and demanded the state government to implement GO 29 regarding rationalisation of schools in the state. He warned if the state government failed to resolve the problems of unemployed, they would intensify their stir across the state.
