Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidya Peetha to bring out Mahatma’s writings in Sanskrit

Tirupati: As a fitting tribute to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary, Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidya Peetha (RSVP), a Deemed Sanskrit University here, had decided to bring out the writings of Gandhiji in Sanskrit.

Disclosing this at a meeting held to commemorate Gandhi Jayanthi, RSVP Vice-Chancellor Prof V Muralidhara Sharma said the RSVP to mark the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma, will bring out the writings of Gandhiji in Sanskrit to give impetus to the efforts to promote Gandhian principles of non-violence and peace.

He said promoting Gandhian principles was essential more than ever before in the context of growing unrest and conflict world over. The non-violence and non-cooperation, the two weapons Gandhiji used to beat the British to achieve independence was a unique experiment which
the world had never saw, he said urging youth to take inspiration from the life of Gandhiji to fight for the betterment of the society.

Prof Lakshmi Chetty, SVU retired professor, said that the people should desist from non-violence and follow the path of love espoused by Emperor Asoka.

On the occasion, prizes were given away to the winners of elocution, patriotic songs and group discussions organised by Vagvardhini Parishad to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji. Parishad coordinators Nagarju, Muralidhar Rao, Somath Das, RSVP Registrar GSR Krishnamurthy and others were present.
