Foundation laid for 900 houses in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: Government Whip and MLA of Visakhapatnam West PVGR Naidu and Commissioner of GVMC M Hari Narayanan laid the foundation stone for 900 houses here on Friday, which would be constructed at a cost of Rs 10 crore at Rajivnagar and Mutyamamba Colony in 43rd division. TATA and APTIDCO (Andhra Pradesh Town Infrastructure Development Corporation) would construct the 900 houses.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner of GVMC said that the houses would be constructed with shear wall technology with all the facilities. With an aim to provide own house to all the people under the ‘House for All’, the state government sanctioning a huge number of houses in the city.
Already, 57,000 houses were sanctioned to the city and construction of 20,000 houses was completed and they were handed over to the beneficiaries. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) was sent to the government for sanctioning of another 50,000 houses in the city limits, Hari Narayanan said.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA PVGR Naidu said that as many as 18,000 persons applied for the construction of houses at their own sites and the government would provide subsidy to them. In Visakhapatnam west constituency, houses have been given to 13,000 beneficiaries and 14,900 new pensions were given during the past four years, the MLA claimed.
Instead of shifting the poor and common people where they are residing, the government has decided to construct G+3 houses to provide own houses at their own places. The houses would be handed over to the beneficiaries after creating infrastructure in the colonies.
The TATA and APTIDCO have been directed to complete the houses with an aim to hand over the new houses by Sankranti 2019, the MLA said. Project director of Urban ommunity Division (UCD) of GVMC D Srinivasan and several other officials were present.
