UG power cables to be laid in Kakinada

Kakinada: To cater to the changing needs, underground power cables system is being developed in Kakinada Smart City along with road widening and centre lighting. 

The programme is being implemented with a cost of Rs 98.2 crore for a distance of 7.5 kilometres in the first phase. Out of this total, Rs 60 crore for underground cable and Rs 38.2 crore for road widening will be allotted. The execution of this project has been entrusted to BVSR Constructions.

Under the programme, the underground cable system is being taken up from NTR statue in Sarpavaram Junction to GMC Balayogi statue in Yanam road near MSN Degree College along with road widening.

 As part of road widening, the road will be laid with median of one metre width and centre lighting. The road with seven metre wide on both sides, besides this, walking and cycle track will be laid in three metre area on both sides. In addition to this, one metre area on both sides will be allotted for utilisation of cables and allied needs.

 This makes the total area of road to 14 metres on both sides, 6 metres for cycle and  walking track and two metres for cable works making the total to 22 metres on both sides.

The underground cable and road connectivity passes from Sarpavaram Junction , Nagamalli Theta,  JNTU-K area,   Bhanugudi Junction, Two town police station, Jagannaickpur  old bridge (Mahatma Gandhi  bridge) Bhavannarayana Junction, Munsif  Junction, MSN  Charities and GMC Balayogi statue. 

APEPDCL , Kakinada divisional engineer  Nallam  Udaya Bhaskar said that the underground cable system will be of  immense use to the people.
