Students want Telugu medium in municipal corporation schools in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: The leaders of Student Federation of India (SFI) and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) demanded that the government continue medium of instruction in Telugu at all the municipal corporation schools here on Wednesday.
In this regard, they gave a memorandum to the Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner J Nivas.
The leaders said that earlier the government had issued a GO cancelling the medium of instruction in Telugu in all municipal schools and later for the convenience of the students the government said it would continue Telugu medium.
But the Headmasters were insisting the students to continue in English medium.
The leaders told the commissioner that by introducing English medium, most of the students were unable to understand and forced to stop going to school.
Introducing English medium was a good move but should continue Telugu medium, as most of the students prefer Telugu medium, they said.
SFI leader M Anil, DYFI leader T Praveen, R Rajashekar, Lakshman, 36 division corporator A Adilakshmi and others were present.
