Eluru: The MLA Badeti Bujji has launched a pension scheme for the single women on experimental basis here, on Thursday.
At an Atmeeya Sadassu organised for the pensioners, the MLA handed over the new pension benefits to four single women.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that the pension scheme for the single women would be officially launched from October 2, on the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.
He informed that the state government was extending the pensions to 20,000 people in the city. During the last four years, the government handed over Rs 108 crore towards the pensions to the poor.
The government had been doing justice to the eligible poor by providing them with the pension online. As the pensioners were identified with their iris and finger access, there were no irregularities in the pension scheme.
The government was taking care of the pensioners by handing over the pension between first and fifth of every month.
He called upon the pensioners to influence at least one member of the society to cast his/her vote to TDP in the next elections and to express their gratitude to the party president N Chandrababu Naidu who helped them get pension.
