Tirupati: As many as 3,750 students of AP Social Welfare Residential Schools from 11 districts joined to pay a fitting tribute to Dr B R Ambedkar in various dance and musical forms held in a series here on Saturday as part of the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Ambedkar.

The musical and dance programmes by the students which started here at Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) Auditorium at 9.20 am in the morning on Saturday would come to a close on Sunday at 10.20 am, after a 25-hour non-stop performance by the students.
The boys and girls left the audience spell bound with their spirited theme based performance of various dance and musical programmes, one after another eulogising the greatness of Ambedkar, his outstanding and untiring contribution for social justice and equality in the society.
Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions (APSWREI) Secretary Col V Ramulu said that the 25-hour long culture performance being organised as a part of the weeklong 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr BR Ambedkar was aimed to create a Guinness World Record in continuous dance performance based on the life history of Dr Ambedkar.
He said students from 125 residential schools in the districts in the state except Krishna and East Godavari are participating in the programme.Another mega cultural programme of Kuchipudi dance by 7,000 students in Vizag beach is slated on April 11, he said adding that a batch of 13 students have left on Saturday an expedition to scale Mount Everest.
All these efforts are to reveal that students of governmentrun APSWREI capable of achieving anything and create world records. The programme was also intended to spread the message and ideology of Ambedkar to the world, he said adding that APSWREI is striving hard to bring out the innate creative talents of the students in various co-curricular activities along with academics.
In this connection, Ramulu recalled Guinness World Record achieved by the society students such as marathon run held on April 2, recently from Bhattiprolu to Amaravati, Guntur district, Jadakolatam in Vijayawada on April 6 and today’s programme is the third one. He along with SVU Vice-Chancellor A Damodaram formally inaugurated the programme. Large number of people from the city turned out to witness the event.
The APSWREI head office officials, coordinators of Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur districts and principals were present.
