Man held, `2.3 lakh stolen property recovered
Narsapuram: Police arrested a burglar at Yeletipadu village in Iragavaram Police station limits on Sunday morning and recovered gold ornaments from his possession.
Narsapuram DSP TT Prabhakara Babu told the media here on Sunday that the Iragavaram SI G Srinivasa Rao and his staff conducted a check-up in Iragavaram mandal on the instructions from the Penugonda CI R Vijaya Kumar. Pappu Tulasi Srikrishna alias Srikrishna (26) of Eluru city was wandering suspiciously with a hand bag around the RTC bus stop near a bridge in Yeletipadu village.
The SI and his personnel immediately took him to custody. On interrogation, it was revealed that Srikrishna was a habitual offender and was convicted in several cases in Eluru and Vijayawada areas. He committed theft in a temple in Rapaka village in the mandal on December 12, the DSP said. The police seized four sovereigns of gold ornaments, 4 kg silver articles from the accused. The total value of the property recovered was Rs 2.3 lakh, the DSP added. He congratulated the special party led by SI G Srinivasa Rao, head constable Satyanarayana, constables Balaji, Naresh and others for arresting the burglar.
