Job fair for youth with disabilities today

Vijayawada: Youth 4 Jobs (Y4J) foundation in association with Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Academy (APITA) and Axis Bank will organise a programme to interact with companies and businessmen to provide employment to youth with disabilities. The programme would be held at Manor Plaza on February 23, said co-founder of Youth 4 Jobs Gopal Garg hereon Thursday.

Speaking to the media persons, Garg said the main aim of the foundation was to create main stream jobs to youth with disabilities. About 40 companies would participate in the programme. Heads of the companies who had hired youth with disabilities would speak about their experiences.

He said Y4J was established five-and-a- half years ago and it had spread to 12 states with 22 training centres in the country. In AP, there are four training centres at Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. Disabled youth would be trained and placed in jobs suitable for their abilities. He said 300 disabled people in Vijayawada were trained and placed in job in last two-and-a- half years, he added.

He said a new programme ‘College Connect’ was launched by Y4J would orient youth with disabilities in colleges and educational institutions and link them to employment, he added. APITA additional CEO Winny Patro, manager Krishna Sharma and others were present.
