Vijayawada: The women empowerment department and cultural department of Siddhartha Arts and Science College (PBS) organised Sankranthi celebrations at the college campus on Friday.

The PBS principal, Dr M Ramesh said that the college girl students were dressed in traditional half saris and decorated the college premises with colourful rangolis and sugarcane.

All the students and lecturers danced round the Bhogi Mantalu which was organised near the open dais and Bommala Koluvu near principal office. Gangireddu Mela attracted all the students.

Some students flied kites, some played treasure hunt and some others students participated in fashion parade. Cooking and cycling competition was held for girl students and the winners were given prizes. North and south Indian food stall attracted the students.Later, cultural activities like dances were performed.
