Youth feeding the poor for 900 days at Niloufer

Nampally: Run by a youngster, an NGO which started feeding the poor at Niloufer hospital has completed 900 days of its service to the needy. Encouraged by the response, the voluntary organisation Humanity First Foundation (HFF) later extended the programme to Maternity Hospital in Koti and NIMS at Punjagutta and now plans to begin the service at Fever Hospital at Nallakunta.

HFF was recently in news for serving traders at the Nampally Industrial Exhibition who lost their property in the fire accident. Generally engaged in feeding near the state-run-hospitals, on that fateful day where the entire property of traders was gutted, the voluntary organisation came forward to provide succour to the traders, besides some other groups.

The foundation serves upma at all these hospitals, as it can be easily cooked and served. Cooked with pure-ghee, a 25-kg of upma ravva is distributed along with chutnee at all the three hospitals by 9 am in the morning. "I start at 8 am from Maternity Hospital at Koti.

Later I arrive at 8.30 am at Niloufer and after completing my work, I proceed to my final destination i.e., NIMS at Punjagutta. The quantity is good enough to feed 1000 persons, be it patients, attendants or any destitute. It costs me around Rs 5,000a , but feeding these people gives me immense happiness," Mohd Sujathullah, who recently completed his PharmD.

It all started after the youngster decided to keep his vow of feeding the poor, after his backlogs in B Pharm were cleared. As a mark of gratitude to God, he decided to feed the needy at Secunderabad railway station. Since the food he was carrying could not cater to the poor present there, he decided to increase the quantity. Later on, he found Niloufer hospital as a proper place to feed people.

When asked why only breakfast, Sujathullah says, "breakfast is an important meal of any individual and if someone gets this meal at proper time he will be able to focus on other things and lunch would not be any big deal, as the day has already started with something in stomach."

The approximate cost of the daily feeding costs about Rs 5,000 (at the rate of Rs 5 per person). He raises money with the help of family, friends and supporters and well-wishers on social media. "My family has been very supportive in this and hence I am able to continue.

It gives me immense happiness that with god's grace we continued this programme unhindered for the last 900 days at Niloufer Hospital. I sincerely thank my family, friends, generous donors and my gracious supporters for your prayers and support in this journey," added Sujathullah.
