Hyderabad: Four PG doctors from Niloufer have been affected with Dengue Fever as fever cases continue to rise in Hyderabad and rest of the State this month. These doctors are on leave and undergoing treatment at some private hospitals. According to sources, even some of the nursing staff were affected with fever in the last few days.

According to officials, the main problem was lack of cleanliness and hygiene within the hospitals. Niloufer has been flooded with fever cases over the last week resulting in huge rush of children, their parents and relatives into the hospital.

Doctors and nurses said the need of the hour was ensuring proper cleanliness in all wards and hospital premises. After hospital staff themselves is falling sick due to mosquito bites, fogging was taken up in the hospital surroundings on Friday.

Meanwhile, in view of the change in the weather conditions and sudden spurt of viral fevers, Telangana government has decided to provide OP Facility on holidays and even on Sundays in all teaching hospitals across the State. Osmania, Gandhi, Niloufer, Fever, ENT, MGM (Warangal), RIMS (Adilabad) etc. fall in this list.

This decision was taken to meet the increased load of patients and to provide better facilities, treatment and early diagnosis with investigations if needed, DME (Director of Medical Education) Dr K Ramesh Reddy said.

He further said that necessary drugs would also be made available. Any patient with fever need not get worried as they can avail OP facility in our Government Tertiary care Hospitals, he said.
