Yadav officials demand Ahir Regiment in Army
Abids: Telangana Yadav officials association appealed the government to form a separate 'Ahir Regiment' in the Indian Army comprising soldiers from Yadav community. Representatives of the association met Hyderabad Joint Collector Ravi and submitted a memorandum in this regard at Hyderabad collectorate office on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the president of the association, MB Krishna, said that 114 Yadav soldiers sacrificed their lives during the war with China on November 18, 1962 but their sacrifices did not receive proper recognition. A post card campaign was started by the association, requesting the PM Narendera Modi to form Ahir Regiment, on lines of Sikh and Gurkha regiments.
President Krishna Yadav, along with general secretary of the association Om Prakash Yadav, treasurer Brahmanand Yadav and other members, were among those who met the joint collector.
