Telangana State Minorities Commission urges University of Hyderabad to put up sign boards in Urdu also
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Minorities Commission (TSMC) has asked the University of Hyderabad (UoH)to come up with the sign board which highlights the name of University in Urdu (2nd official language of TS), apart from existing Telugu, Hindi and English.
The TSMC asked the UoH VC to take immediate necessary action to get the sign board written in Urdu language also along with other languages in an official communication.
The Commission took up the issue following a petition filed by Syed Abdul Rahman, resident of Falaknuma, where he brought to notice of the Commission that sign board of the university has been written in English, Hindi and Telugu languages, but it doesn't the name of the university in Urdu language, though it has been declared as 2nd official language by the Telangana government.
The member of Students Islamic Organisation (Baba Nagar Unit), Abdul Rahman is a resident of Farooq Nagar in Falaknuma and pursuing MA (Urdu) from Dr B R Ambedkar Open University.
"Being a student of Urdu, I took up it as an important issue and decided to approach TSMC. Since Urdu has been declared as second official language of Telangana, accordingly authorities should act or otherwise it would be an injustice," said Abdul Rahman.
